Demanding Behaviors

Demanding behaviors like barking, jumping up, stealing things, pawing, humping, staling food and dragging you on leash are all precursors to much more serious behaviors.
When your dog has leaned that be pushy and adminet about what they want gets them what they want or produces what they want faster, they start to pattern that. But when you tell them , "No Fluffy, you can't chase the squirrel right now. No, Fluffy you can't eat off the counter right now. No, Fluffy you can't go say hi to that person right now. No, Fluffy you can't go outside right now."....your dog will think "Well, being pushy, demanding and adminet has gotten me what I wanted before and to get what I want now, I'll become even more adminet and pushy."
And then.....those behaviors can begin to develop onto reactivity issues. And your dog may even become so pushy they are willing to bite you to get what they want.
Teach your dog from the beginning or reteach your dog that being calm and asking for things in polite way, will result in more. And your dog also needs to be taught that sometimes is ok to not get what you want. Educating your dog that soft and respectful behaviors get them what they want leads to better long behaviors.
